Disappointed by this. Betty Buckley's is the best.

I like listening to this, but Patti seems disconnected in this performance. Idk, every gesture she makes screams "LOOK AT ME! I'M PATTI LUPONE!" There's little honesty.

transposed n what is going on with her "mannerisms" n vocal tics!

@harythng Actually there are conflicting stories of which Betty Buckley cleared up recently on an interview on the sirrius broadway channel . She was working in Steven Schwartz Pippen for where Mr Schwartz presented her with this song. and helped develop it . she auditioned for the show 9 times and was not given the role. The director went with ms. Demas. Patti did replace her. So in away I can see where Betty can claim it be hers.

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

@TerribleGreenBlizzard It's transposed. She's definitely on pitch in this key, but in my opinion its just more impressive to really nail the C#s on "fly with me" and such. It's an extremely difficult and enjoyable song. If you really like the song, there's a great version of it on my page that I did with a vocalist at my school. It's deff worth a listen.

@thedragonmaster1 Are you suggesting that she is singing under pitch the whole time or it was transposed down? I am just wondering. This song is incredibly difficult to sing.... and it is more about the journey then the key. Some songs have to be sung in the original key but I don't see this as one of those. Of course... opinions differ respectably

I'd like to hear her sing it in the right key: A whole step higher than she's trying to sing it here.

NO

Actually, that is not correct. The original wife was Carol Demas, who was replaced in Los Angeles by this little Italian girl by the name of Patti LuPone. I know first hand because my partner at the time was her agent at William Morris.
Couldn't figure out why they would bring this person in, as she sat in the backseat our our car as we drove to The Brown Derby. Once she stepped on stage a few nights later, we couldn't take our eyes off her, and her Meadowlark was electrifying.
