What I like best about Paths of Glory is that it pulls no punches about the evils of war. Colonel Dax, IMHO, was a far nobler soul than T.E. Lawrence ever was.

Kubrick had such a knack for making trailers so authoratative.

Lawrence of Arabia is an excellent film. Being slightly pedantic its not specifically about World War 1

They are the best WW1 movies - for the battle scenes themselves. As for the story, I guess Paths of Glory kicks ass...

There are plenty but none of them are as good as this in my opinion.
