Live Peeled Frogs

Found in a market in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Posted as a study in cultural differences. As a westerner, this is pretty astounding to see. Urbanized and sub-urbanized Westerners live really far from their food source. Most of us have never killed the meat we eat but, just a few generations ago, most of our ancestors did. Other cultures may have current aspects that, because of their region's history of development, are closer to how our ancestors lived. Westerners tend to buy food that is in printed plastic packaging with screaming logos and associated media advertising appealing to our emotions and lurid subconscious. Other cultures may buy food that looks like what it is, food that takes time, knowledge and a connection to ones culture to prepare, eat and enjoy.

I am not sure why frogs would be peeled live, but there it is.

Westerner"s contact with animals tend to be with our pets, whom we inflict with anthropomorphic attributes as we dress them in embarrassing, overpriced outfits from big box pet stores and feed them food in that same plastic packaging ours comes from. Of course you are not going to kill and eat Fido when he looks so cute in his jogging suit.

Some interesting demographics about people viewing this video: Overwhelmingly males, aged 24-54 from English speaking countries, with the largest segment aged 34-44. From the quality of the comments, I figured most of the viewers were about 14.

Why is everyone hating on Z1Z12 so much? I somewhat felt what they felt watching the frog breathe, skinless, likely in pain. How would you feel to be skinned alive and forced to wait, your imminent death on it's way? I'm no vegetarian (I eat too much meat if anything) and I rarely care for animals, but this was saddening. At least have the decency to kill the frogs. However,you can't judge these people completely.They are simply doing what is practiced in their culture/country/life or whatever.
