School Vouchers

Enacting school voucher programs has been a problematic issue for many parents and taxpayers. On the one hand, the program is seen as a way to improve the quality of education in public schools, especially those that are failing at educating our youth. On the other hand, they are seen as a violation of the First Amendment of the Constitution which mandates a separation of church and state -- this because many parents choose to remove their children from public schools and enroll them in private schools, many of which are religion-based, using the voucher money to pay the tuition.
