Billy Cobham is from Panama and grew up in New York, but here with J Michael Harrison on WRTI shows some respect for Philly and shares a tale from the Jack Johnson sessions with Miles Davis in 1970. At the time of this interview he was performing and recording with Philadelphian Victor Bailey. The B.C. Band will be at the Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe PA on Oct 8, 2010.

  • did he ever mention the song title of the track he was speaking of?

  • I seem to recall it was an unreleased track from the Jack Johnson sessions that ended up on a documentary soundtrack...

  • I'll never forget meeting him at drum corps practice in 78. He showed up and I asked him if he could play hambone. (backsticking) He laughed and did this slap thing. No no what I mean is this and tried to show him back sticking but I had a cast on my hand. Later he signed it. He was such a down to earth guy to talk to.

  • NICE!! Really nice......I LOVE Billy Cobham!!
