look at it this way, its petter then living on the streets like they did in their home countries, if it weren't for this their would be a higher amount of povety in the world
Please face it, those conditions are no worse to those in their home countries! I am talking of °F by the way. Do you want to know why this is reported? Because some people like influencing the stupid masses, which is easiest to achieve by pointing at some so called "dirty spots", not taking into consideration that the clothes one wears (only for example, this goes for most things actually) are made under similar conditions. How do you think Nike makes their shoes? Same game really.
Wait, you don't see the problem of the living conditions that the workers are in? There's like 10-20 ppl per little apartment or something! And 10-20 degrees C isn't huge?? That's the difference between being hot and being on fire when you're doing backbreaking work like construction!
Why not stop being an apologist for the Dubai govt and look at the facts? If this wasn't a huge problem it wouldn't be reported and the Dubai govt wouldn't be trying to take steps to clean things up now.
I just watched it, and I still do not see a problem. They get paid a dollar per hour, this is an amount impossible to achieve for a construction worker in India. A monthly wage of about 235-250 dollars may not seem lavish to us, but it is at least (!) twice as much as they would get paid in India. The conditions in Dubai are not very different from those in India, it may be some 10-20 degrees warmer in the peaks, but thats it. I don't see any complication in this.
The conditions in their home countries may be the same or worse, but at least they have their freedom and they probably don't have to work under extreme heat conditions as they do working in Dubai.
In some of those reports, the workers' passports are taken away and they work long hours even in hot conditions. Also how much money they are told they will make is changed to much lower once they arrive in Dubai so that they cannot change their minds.
They may seem horrible to you, i am sure they will do so to me though i will not look for the videos, but please consider the conditions those people live in their own countries, which are either the same or even more severe. There must always be a part of the society to do the dirty work, this is a law of nature. I am grateful not to belong to this part of our society, and i am also aware that without their work my life would not be as comfortable.
Type in 'Dubai slave workers' or 'Dubai dirty secret' in youtube search and see what you find.
Migrant workers do make more than they do at home, but its still much less than they could be earning say in Europe or North America for the same work
Also if you watch those videos, you'll see that their housing and living conditions are HORRIBLE! Can't believe that the Dubai govt tries to cover this up and make it seem like they're not abusing migrant works which they see as lower class citizens.
Sorry, what exactly is slave labour about it? The workers are paid hell of alot more than they would receive in their home countries, so they enable their families a better future when they return to them. There is no point in paying them according to first world standards when they will be sent back home after work is finished.
