"(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" is Otis Redding's posthumously released (January 8, 1968) final single and the first posthumous #1 hit in US chart history. It was recorded just days before he died when the charter plane carrying him and 7 others crashed into Lake Monona (outside Madison, WI) on his birthday. Only one passenger, Ben Cauley of the Bar-Kays, survived.
The audio here was taken from a hi-res rip (not made by me) of the Sundazed stereo reissue vinyl LP, which was mastered from the original tapes.
