The sound didn't come out well enough to notice any large differences but the biggest differences were:

the Recording King is warmer sounding. the Martin is crisper sounding, and easier to play.

  • how can one honestly compare a full standard dread,to one with a cut a way ,and dont tell me that does not make any differerence. i own a good martin, but these guitars both sound like shit ,it might be the quality of the recording, but if you have any musical ear,one will identify true sonics in the raw,and these guitars just dont catch the ear

  • @snapperjohn1000 lol you can't. this video was shot on a cheap digital camera using the crappy on-board mic. but from the comments you can already tell the strong bias people have towards martin's- they are absolutely sure somehow that the martin sounds better even though it is virtually impossible to tell in this video. realistically, tone varies from guitar to guitar, and not necessarily the model. to be honest, this particular RD-27 doesn't sound as good as the martin. but the RDJ-25 does.

  • the martin stands alone,,it has power volume and bass, the R,king has a nice sound i take it there is a big difference in price ?

  • @haselock1963 oh yeah of course- the RD-27 is like 500 bucks. this Martin is an HD-28, $3000+ so of course i was expecting a difference lol. but back then I heard rumors of the RD-27 being the most affordable guitar on the same steps of the D-28, they didn't have an actual D-28 so i thought an HD wouldn't be too far away. i just wanted to see if it was close, but the woods are different anyways =(

  • @dantesessions lol well thanks for your advice that so many other people already gave on a video that was made 2 years ago. but it does strike me funny that it's "plain to see" the Martin has "far superior dynamics" when in fact I'm not using a pick and it's a shitty recording without mics. this video was taken with a cheap photo camera- so it shits ME that people are coming here with a strong Martin bias because clearly, there is no real way to tell which is "better" from this video.

  • @bluegrasssingingman Show me where I said Martin owns RK? RK used to be a Gibson brand- and RK's aren't pieces of sht - compare them pound for pound. Your BR160 has an adirondack top, so true it'll probably blow the RD-27's engelmann top away... it won't blow away the RD-327's adirondack top though. Now in this comparison, the RK is a piece of sht compared to the HD-28 but it's also a million dollars less than the HD-28. In fact, the Martin DX1 is a piece of sht compared to the HD-28 lol

  • I have the recording king 27. wow what a guitar!!! I have to say martins and taylors are slightly better than this but with a 3000 dollar price difference you would have to be at the top of you game to pay that much of a difference for this little of a sound difference.

  • Martin is way much better, even on this video.

  • recording king is dollar for dollar a better buy ! Especially the higher priced models--like the ES models--they kick butt--I have a top end Martin and the ES has more punch--clarity--definition--plus D size guitars are a waste of wood. So many of them have poor sound projection acoustically--besides being uncomfortable to play !

  • I would have liked to see the Martin 28 go against a RK dreadnought like the D-127 or the D-227, instead of a cutaway. This RK doesn't hold a candle to the dreadnought RKs. I would never have believed that a guitar that good could compete with the Martins, Taylors, Gallaghers and Santa Cruz, but the RK dreadnoughts blow most of them away for a fraction of the price. I'm still shaking my head over the strange contradiction. How a guitar that good could be so inexpensive. Amazing!!

  • @bluegrasssingingman i know where the guitar company is dude thats where they design them .... they are made in mass numbers overseas thats why they are cheaper everybody knows that .... you know kinda like wallmart... american company but no american merchandise but all the clothes were designed in america

  • @bluegrasssingingman Morgan Monroe, was in Indiana. Which now their out of business. Since their company burnt down.

  • @brandonch25 Their company is in San. Fran, That is where my warranty card was sent to.

  • @gimpyjwilliams my br160 is pretty damn good just sayin

  • @bluegrasssingingman they are not made in the usa ...... the companys are based in the usa and they design the guitars here in the u.s but for instance there is only one blueridge br160 that was made in the usa and it is a template they use to get chinese to build lots of br160's and sell them cheaper ..... if you can ever get your hands on the template it might be worth some money because they are not for sale
