Musical adaptation by Robert Wright and George Forrest
(Based on "Nocturne" and "Wedding Day" In Troldhaugen" by Evard Grieg)

Lyrics:
Strange music in my ears
Only now as you spoke, did it start.
Strange music of the spheres
Could it's lovely hum be coming from my heart?
You appear and I hear song sublime
Song that I'm incapable of.
So Dear, let me hold you near
While we treasure ev'ry measure,
So that time can never change
The strange, new music of love.

  • Thank you for the nice comments. A few years ago, this song used to be here, but was removed, I don't know why. It's one of my all-time favorites, so I had learn how to upload a video to see that it was put back. The melody is magical and touches my heart. Aren't minor keys wonderful?

  • Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of appreciation for your efforts--

This is a great record, and thanks to you, I've gotten a chance to hear it for the first time.

  • @MrMickmonk Agree with you. My mother worked for Bertrand Hirsch from 1927-39. She knew James Melton and all the radio/movie stars of that era. Mr. Hirsch managed my mother;s modeling/featured movie extra career and when not performing she decorated Mr. Hirsch's office as his secretary (she could not touch type but she was beautiful. • @emmelle53 Agree Love the MINOR KEY OPERATIC STYLE!!!!! ROGHARM swing with benny goodman tried to change quality of the minor key so that any ordinary singer could "sing" and orchestras with great arrangements such this great arrangement could be cheap and the record companies could money. james melton has great clear diction, range and quality tone. this is one of my favorite recordings on youtube. thank you poster for this great recording.

  • I just simply LOVE this guys voice...... wonderfull

  • Glad you learned to upload so we can share this gorgeous song (and it is from SONG OF NORWAY.) . I'm doing the same thing (learning to upload a Melton song) --there can't be too many Melton postings!

  • @emmelle53 Did you catch the vibes in the bridge at 2:40? A beautiful Ray Conniff version of this also came down recently. Darn those youtube criminals!!!

Thanks for your efforts here. My channel is a catalog of a century of worldwide music with playlists for every year since 1900, so I've added this to 1945. I've struggled to fill in the 1940s. Within my 620 playlist are tributes to 400 different artists. Hope you stop by. chuck

  • Beautiful, thanks. From Song of Norway, I think
