Well that is pretty impressive. My only problem is that they didn't focus on building something safe to begin with. That fact alone would prevent me from ever buying their product. Safety first! What's the point if you don't arrive alive.

Meh, as long as the manufaturers constantly aim to improve no reason, why they should not.

I don't see how a crippled roof would total the car itself.

To clarify the contention: "And, plenty of cars, including European and Japanese models, that would fail the IIHS and Euro NCAP are also car that are no longer made."
The point is that the crash worthiness of Chinese automobiles are about a decade, give or take a couple of years, behind that of European, Japanese, American, and South Korean automakers. Chinese car safety is comparable to cars not being made anymore by other automakers.
They can improve and the sooner, the better.

And, even though they got the improvements in a short amount of time, that doesn't change the fact that the competition has cars that still perform better.
And, they should continue improvement of the platform with the goal to earn 5 stars.
Hopefully, for their sake, they will in short time because a prospective customer may take the better-rated car if there is only a minor difference in cost.

Actually, IIHS tests are about on par with those conducted by the Euro NCAP; many of the same tests are used and at the same speeds, only how the ratings are compiled are different.
For instance, the crash test shown here is a frontal offset into a collapsible aluminum barrier at 40 MPH (approximately 64 km/h). The IIHS performs the exact same test.
And, plenty of the cars, including European and Japanese models, that would fail the IIHS and Euro NCAP are also cars that are no longer made.

Jumping to 3 stars in 79 days is pretty good though. And at least here in the US, we have plenty of cars that would do worse on the Euro NCAP (our tests are less comprehensive).
They do need more work though, looking at those crash tests it looks like the car is easily totaled because it sustains damage all over the place in accidents other cars would only need small repairs for. The roof rippling like that would immediately total the car.
Still, I'm impressed for 79 days.

you will find out some model of ford has failed in crash test ~~ thats in 10 years model

I'm going with Ford and Toyota. The technology and demand is here, and I'm pretty sure either of them could manage 5 stars if they started out 10 years ago.
Just for the curiosity..Why did they go to Spain to re-test the car rather than ADAC in German where they got 1 star.

Don't know why - but what difference would it make? Has anyone ever asked where all the Renault cars were crashed that received 5*? C'me on, if the EuroNCAP is a standardized test, it doesn't matter who/where the test is performed. Or are you implying that the ADAC is testing tougher than the IDIADA. That would be a real scandal! Speak out here if you know something - but please, don't make implications the way you do!

This car is just for the test LoL
In mass production, the same old one
Less reinforcement = cheaper = profit, Chinese just love that!
People? Too many in our country.

How do you know? You better stay serious and don't make claims you can not prove or engage in China bashing!
