This text-only video is appropriate for the man who gave us text - printed text, anyhow, and lots of it.

  • Isn't Bi Sheng in Northern Song Dynasty invented the movable type, by the western world seems to consider Gutenberg to be the inventor of movable type. I don't want make mistake. Does he improve the movable press or else?

Or he is the first one to master the technology in europe

  • @vault34overseer just improved it...that's why the song says "he improved on Asian techniques..." then based his machine on a wine press

  • As a huge Blondie fan, I never thought I would say that someone sings as well as Debbie Harry! Well, now I can say it! If you had been born earlier, you could have started Blondie! I keep demanding that you make an album and do some songs by The Ramones, Dire Straits, Pat Benatar, The Go-Go's, as well as more by Green Day, Blondie, and The Bangles. When you form a group, I will be a groupie, a hanger-on, an overpaid gopher (go-fer), & an all-around nuisance! Makes you want to get started, huh?!?

  • @rtmorphine so cute! I am flattered. I worship Debbie Harry!

  • @Laceykat66- couldn't have said it better myself. People seem to forget these are not entire lessons, but springboards for them

  • whoever sang this is pretty good up until the bible part.

  • I had too watch this in Social Studies ha lol:P

  • I was wondering what font was used for the word "Asian"? I think it's a wonderful blending of Roman letter-forms and Asian calligraphy. Lovely video!

  • @vault34overseer Yes, but keep in mind that the only proof for this is a publication of Shen Kuo. No material proof of this has been found, and the technique was not used for over 500 years in China. But they /did/ print with movable letters in Korea in the 13th century.

Also, keep in mind that Europe had little contact (indirect through silkroad merchants) to china at this time. So, it was most certainly an independent invention by Gutenberg.

  • Odd, why are your other videos actual videos while this is just kinetic typogra-... oh.

  • Study study study. Its actually fun now :D

  • omg this song was stuck in my head this morning -.-

our history teacher showed this to us yesterday n.n
