A step by step, in-depth process on how to edit your windows hosts file.

Very brief steps:
1. Open your Hosts file (%windows%/system32/drivers/etc)
2. open hosts file using a text editor
3. delete the 5 lines of unwanted redirects
4. Save as to the desktop with the name "hosts" with the filetype "all files"
5. delete the hosts file in the etc folder
6. move the hosts file from the desktop to the etc folder

  • ok maybe I'm just slow...but I have no idea still on what to do..I get the point of some of the things but for instance the stuff at the top of the host file, does that need deleted? or does it just stay there? and then should you be putting your serial number in there somewhere?...Hopefully I get a quick response cause I"ve watch a ton of videos and none of them has showed what it is really supposed to look like when its saved

The windows hosts file does not need to be messed with unless you know what you are doing.

Out of the box, you don't need to edit the windows hosts file for any reason.

The windows hosts file filters your internet. If you don't need to edit it, please don't!

This is just a video I threw together for some friends and decided I would post it on youtube for other people.

This was also meant to be in-depth for those who are a little more computer-illiterate.
