Group on Earth Observations (GEOSS) - Part 2 of 2:
To coordinate the collecting and analysis of data on our environment, the intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations (GEOSS) is leading a worldwide effort to build a Global Earth Observation System of Systems over the next 10 years to help study and manage the worlds resources and disaster prediction and recovery. This program is about the political challenges of developing this global information service that includes satellite-based remote sensing technologies for data collection and analysis. Part 2 of 2. The IEEE Committee on Earth Observation (ICEO) facilitates broad-based IEEE participation in the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and its international effort to create a Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) for applying Earth observation data and information for societal benefits. The focus of GEO and ICEO is helping to improve living conditions, particularly in developing countries, through the development of GEOSS, a realizable global resource for decision makers at all levels. http://www.ieee-earth.org/
