ASYLUM SEEKERS OR JUST ECONOMIC MIGRANTS LOOKING FOR EASY ACCESS

A large number of "asylum seekers" appear to be economic migrants, so says Nationals Senator Barnaby Joyce. He says the Australian Government needs tougher policies as there is a vague distinction between genuine refugees and those arrriving in Australia for economic reasons.

Now then, we're not talking about Australia. Australians are not persistently arriving on foreign shores seeking asylum or flouting immigration laws. We're also not talking about Australian history, we're talking about events taking place today in 2011 that affect people now! Btw, when did we "run away?" That's partly true, but there are two important points to consider.

Firstly, those who leave, don't just leave, they absolve themselves of all responsibilty! They actively select a preferred detination, often thousands of kM from their nearest country of safety. Secondly, all 'safe' countries have achieved that safety through rebellion and sacrifice at some point in their history, by those with a profound desire to change things, not run away from them!
