The instructor/learner relationship needs re-thinking. We've got to be learning from one another, not shoveling learning at "learners." We are all learners, all the time, and we can get better at it.
Speaking from the pulpit, looking down on people, makes it very hard to admit you're wrong or don't know everything there is to know about your subject matter.
I didn't find the driving analogy to be engaging, but I loved your comments regarding "partners in learning".
