This video answers two questions. How do you fill up a bottle when the water isn't very deep, and how do you use a bandanna as a filter without getting water all over the place?

This solution uses one Smartwater water bottle, but I think any plastic soft drink or juice bottle should work, too.

Check out my longer writeup at http://goodenoughstuff.blogspot.com/2009/05/steripen-prefilter.html

And by the way, yes there's a drinking fountain in the background, but it's natural spring water, and we're actually up in the mountains.

  • you will die from pesticides if u drink it, at least boil it first

  • @polzowatel

The Steripen is effective against crypto and giardia and other nasties in the water, but you're right -- it isn't effective against pesticides and other chemical pollutants. But then again, boiling doesn't eliminate pesticides either. And besides, water that travels three miles from snow-capped peaks to the location where I'm drinking it, is already going to be pretty safe. The trick is to know where your water is coming from.

  • @PacoWarabi Hello. Is it the same concept as the UV fish tank filter. Thanks Winston

  • @iceberg567

Yep, I guess it is (I don't have a fish tank, but that would make sense). It's also the same concept as the sun purifying water.

  • LMFAO @ :30 through :33 Great review

  • @jagarcia1

I had to go back and look at what I did between 30 and 33 seconds. I never know what to do at the ends of clips, so all the faces I make are completely unplanned. I think I'd rather purposefully make a fool of myself than do it accidentally!
