Cooking French Food is easy with this popular cafe classic, the Croque Monsieur. Imagine the comfort of a grilled cheese sandwich with layers of melted Gruyere, shaved deli ham and more Gruyere! Top that off with a silky and heavenly Mornay sauce and even more cheese. This is simply sublime and I hope you enjoy it.

  • Can you please tell me what the measurements are? I'm guessing 2 tablespoons of flour, but how much milk, Parmesan cheese, and nutmeg? is this all on medium heat?

  • @Annammm I thought I had this recipe in the blog, but I guess I forgot to include it! 2 Tablespoons butter, 2 Tablespoons flour, 1 cup milk and about 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg. Medium to med high heat.

  • your recipe is the best ive seen so far, but i would also recommend putting more of the sauce between the two pieces of bread

  • @AndreProductionVideo Thank you very much! Yeah, I love the mornay sauce. You can never have too much!

  • instead of mustard wat else can u put ? it looks good

  • @3rni3nm3 You don't have to put mustard if you don't want to. It just adds a little zip to the flavour.

  • ughhhhhhh man still droollen; cant speak. You done me in with this!

  • I am French and it seems to be a good recipe although I agree with mehd92i, we never put mustard on it... and we can replace the béchamel sauce by heavy cream.

You can also sometimes add a slice of tomatoe :)

  • Hey..what about adding some bacon!! I don't really eat pastrami but it might be an interesting taste with the ham!!

  • hum en effet cela a l'air bien bon mais en tant que (bonne ) cuisinière française ceci n'est pas un croque monsieur , pas de béchamel ni de moutarde ...et le croque madame est délicieux mais d'apparition plus récente ,bisous sucré

  • Yummmm @1:47

  • Im french and we never add mustard on the composition of the "Croque Monsieur"

I think its better without mustard

You can also do a "Croque Madame" you just have to add a Egg on the top of the sandwich ;)
