This piece is a part of a little project I started a while back to arrange some of my favorite songs from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Once I was done writing the music my brass quintet, the Brass Quintet of the Ages, performed the music and had it recorded by a friend of ours. This is the result!

All of the musicians involved including myself are all studying at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and were all sophomores at the time of this recording.

The Brass Quintet of the Ages:

Ryan Kreiser, Trumpet
Chad Downey, Trumpet
Drew Prichard, Tuba
Aaron Kibbler, Horn
Frank Townson, Trombone

Please keep in mind that there was little or no rehearsal time spent on this and it was purely for fun and for the love of all that is Monty Python!

All credit for the musical content goes to the Monty Python crew and specifically to composer Neil Innes who wrote Brave Sir Robin and Knights of the Round Table for the movie. I was only responsible for the brass quintet arrangement of the music.

Enjoy and please do leave comments! But none that smell of elderberries please!

  • Anyone know where I can get trumpet sheet music for the first song?

  • @Sinen115 since I doubt its published anywhere, you could always just figure out the notes on piano (based on my recording, if you want) and write it down. Or, you could figure it out by ear. It's good for you ;)

  • are you selling the sheet music for this? I would love to perform this.

  • @bradn7 Unfortunately due to international copyright law, I can't sell the music, because I'd have to first get the rights from the original creators of the music (the Monty Python guys).

  • Whoah! THIS IS AMAZING! Very well done! Funny that it's used in a comedy, but that's what makes it funnier. They take themselves so seriously. King Arthur's such a good well mannered guy, so humble - Graham's a really good actor (he was my absolute favourite in the Holy Grail) It just goes well with the epic quest that God himself sends him upon. Makes me want to venture a journey on my own, haha. It's a shame they never got to destroy the French in the film LOL! I was waiting for it, arghh!! :)

  • A FRENCH horn, I presume?

  • anyway to get a copy of the sheet music?

  • @bradn7

i have been looking for something like this for a very long time for a concert band to play. if olny this was sheet music

  • I am trumpet section leader for my high school this year and am in charge of finding our section song to play at the football games. I've been looking everywhere for music to the Holy Grail Theme, but can't find it! I read your earlier comments about not wanting to get in copyright trouble, but I truly don't think you will. Anyways, if there is any way I could get this music, that would be amazing! Please respond, either way.
