This is an English pronunciation lesson to help learn how to pronounce words clearly and correctly. These words are continually pronounced incorrectly by people learning English! Watch the video to learn and practice the correct pronunciation. For each word, I give two examples of the word used in a sentence. Listen and repeat after me!

  • Thanks for the lesson. But I was wondering if clothes and close are pronounced the same. Some Americans seem not to utter the th sound in clothes. But I can hear the way you say clothes is different from close. Could you kindly explain it a bit?

  • @sammiwago Are you the 'Sam from Taiwan' who left a message on my FB page? It's nice to see you on YT, too! = ) Obviously the 'correct' pronunciation would be to pronounce the 'th,' but in casual, everyday conversation, most people don't pronounce the 'th.' As I said in the video, it sounds like 'close.' As long as you don't turn the word into two syllables and say "clo-thes," you'll be fine!
