@bangersnmash4me That is nonsense. Gowan offered a better deal and Swan Hunter did not meet the terms of the contract. The normal thing to do was to switch contractor.

@bangersnmash4me oh and these ships were only built at Swans to buy votes. Blair, Mandleson, Balls, Hoon and Byers? All local MP's in the NE of England. Govan proved value for money, Swans didn't. As for destroying English jobs for the rest of the UK. Thatcher and 1980's Britian. She destroyed UK heavy engineering in favour of shirt n ties at the City of London and look were that has got us now. Think first mate. Please go for English Independance.

@richardosiz you got it right. Your yard bosses screwed up. Plus Govan blew you's out the water just like they did to Barrow and the same way Yarrows has done to Vospers. Clydebuilt my friends and don't forget it. Mounts Bay was ship 2 yet was delivered before this the Tyne built ship 1. Swan's started 6 months before Govan yet fell 6 months behind Govan. Jaap's eye indeed. The difference between Govan and Swans? Kvaerner. They saved Govan by sweeping away old attitudes. Swan's stayed still.
