this is hell for big legs or fat ppl.!

I wonder who first came up with sitting in the Seiza position lol. getting past an hour in seiza proves impossible for me.

Ouch... had a few classes...

Great video, thanks. :)

I sit like that... on a chair xD

My legs don't bend that way... please help!!!

Lols, seiza position is as natural as can be for me. PROBABLY because whenever I go hunting, if we're not in our stands/not deer hunting, I sit like this most of the time. xD I never even knew that it was part of Kendo, however.

LMAO! I tried sitting in seiza before and I found it painful. I thought there was something wrong with me =P.
It seems if you're not used to this, you need to train to getting used to the weight and reduced circulation. I have huge beefy legs... looks like i need a lot of training before getting used to this position.

I find there's a nerve you can sit on that makes your legs go numb. Kind of hard to find but makes it easier. One guy in my Kendo class says he's rather to an hour of push-ups than sit five minutes in seiza, lol.

my legs is going all numb after 5 minutes... am i putting too much thought on my legs?
Thanks for the comments, guys.
You should not lean forwards too much to avoid the pain but I know it hurts. So practice your seiza and gradually put weight on heels more. As you can see in the videos, you do not want to lean forwards or backwards too much.
Thanks,

Thank you for your comment.
Glad to hear that the video was helpful.
I am not too sure how we should place anything else other than a sword. But I would also place a fan besides the left knee or in front of the knees neatly.
I am sure that we have a slightly different manner for a different situation.

I see why it hurt when I was tryin seiza. I was in an incorrect position. Now I shall try it the correct way. Arigatou Gozaimasu Sensei!!!
