Turkish President Abdullah Gul arrived in Tanzania on Sunday for an official visit. Having ended a two day official visit to neighboring Kenya, Gul was welcomed by Tanzanian President with a military ceremony upon his arrival in the capital city of Darusselam.

A group of traditional dancers performed a show at the airport in the honor of the visiting president.

Later, Turkish President Gul met with Tanzanian nationals who got university education in Turkiye.

One of them was theTanzanian Minister of Defense & National Service Hussein Mwinyi, among the 200 Tanzanian nationals who got university education in Turkiye.

He made a short speech to the group and said, "Turkiye will open an embassy in Tanzania. But I see Turkiye already has 37 ambassadors here."

Gul also suggested the Tanzanians to be pioneers of development in Tanzania and not to cut their relations with their friends in Turkiye.

President Gul completed a two-day visit to Kenya before arriving in Tanzania, as part of a tour of sub-Saharan countries, where he received Prime Minister Raila Odinga in a closed to the press meeting.
