Overgrowth of puffer fish teeth prevents the animal from eating and may result in starvation. Home dentistry to remedy this condition is shown in this video.

  • great video. I was looking for something like this. Thank you.

Thanks. It works. Just clip carefully and don't overdo the clove oil. Have fresh water ready for recovery and move the fish from bowl to bowl of fresh water to speed recovery up. The water in the recovery bowls needs to be water from the aquarium so it is not a shock (temperature-wise or chemically) to the fish.

  • Yes. They are Green spotted puffers.

  • @nothingbettertodosoo Thank you!

  • @p10ghost yes. it is a natural seditive for all types of fish. at least the freshwater ones. be careful though, removing growths on a goldfish is a tricky business. good luck!

  • Does the Eugenol work for all types of fish? My friend has a fancy goldfish that has growth that is pus'ing. he wants to removie it or at least drain it without hurting the fish.

  • Puffers* not offers. Darn auto correct

  • Thanks for the video post. I'm new to offers and just got 3 south American puffers. Very nervous about trimming. I got the ms222 already and am ready to do puffer surgery. Great video. Thanks.

  • i use clove oil. with three different puffers. never had any problems.

  • I just trimmed my puffer's teeth. It was a first time for me and I think I did pretty well, thanks to you and your video. I was careful in cutting to the point where I'm not sure I cut enough but for now my little buddy is back in its aquarium swimming away. Thanks again!

  • wow thanks for posting this advice i will use it

  • Thanks for posting. It's a great vid to show. As for the clove oil, I have heard that it can cause brain damage to the fish if not done carefully. Probs shouldn't hold it upside down either. I use snails and shrimp to keep the teeth down, but I did get clove oil to anesthetize it if I need to.

  • Thank you for the quality video. Definitely answered some questions I have had about using clove oil.
