This was modelled, animated and rendered entirely within 3D Studio Max software. A HUGE thank you to NASA for sending me plans and drawings of the Lunar Module over to me in the UK (totally free of charge!). Although the Lunar Module model is quite accurate I have used a bit of artistic license with the sound, voices and action within this sequence. I have made this model available for purchase on 3DStudio: http://www.the3dstudio.com/product_details.aspx?id_product=37425

  • How did you made the moon terrain?

  • @Gamesharkedfr

It's a quite basic mesh with a quite high-res texture map.

  • Very nice animation, but the audio was a little jarring - you mixed up several different parts of the Apollo 11 mission plus some of Apollo 17 and maybe others!

Also, the LM always landed with the sun almost directly behind it.

  • @ApolloWasReal

Thanks for the compliment. And yes, as I acknowledge in the description, I have employed a bit of artistic license with the soundtrack.

  • Cool modeling and animation. How did you create the separation effect? Was that a particle system or reactor?

  • Thanks for that.

I rendered a few layers using particle flow of various bits of debris and composited them in After Effects. I didn't use reactor.

  • Cool animation, but there seems to be at least two errors related to physics. Can you spot them? ;-)

  • Nice, but does the "dust" (or whatever) really act like that (0:55) when there is no air?

  • what is your logicial please? because it's..... AMAZING!

  • @Gromitdog1 Hard science supports Apollo just fine. Read up on how the Apollo color TV system operated and you may get some insights as to how difficult it was to tell just when something actually began to move. Hint: each color TV frame did not represent a single instant in time.

  • @cw28pn2 Typical government neglect. What do the ruling classes care if the common people go without cheese!

  • @Blindingscythe13 And you copied my sentence again. Now your just boring... How about: Blindinschyte the biggest copycat ever?
