Thank you for taking a listen to my guitar playing! I made this for one of my students today 9/17/2011. Were working on the concept of soloing with the pentatonic scales. The trick is to keep it simple. Keep the phrases short. Make space between them. Think of making a statement (small musical idea = motif) and then answering. Repeat phrases with minor changes... like asking a question again to someone.... then answering it differently the second time. I give private online lessons. • There are some very intriguing afterthought minor applications in this (those are the ones you actually play - while playing what you planned to play - without realizing you were playing two separate yet parallel patterns, confused yet? Smoke if you gott'em...) When you do it, both work! - thank you for taking the time to do this one. Raggy

  • Hi Raggy - I was focused on "1" pentatonic pattern. The most popular one in guitar. I was playing an "A minor pentatonic scale" over a blues progression in "A major". Theoretically speaking: the b3 in the scale takes on a #9 sound and the b7 in the pattern makes the 6th in the Major 6th chord a dominant 13th (because there isn't a 7th being played in the A chord). It all sounds like rocket science, but in essence I was only thinking one pattern while playing the progression. :)

  • great feelling

  • Thanks! ~ Peter
