Continuing on our journey to explore the lives of the greatest heroes of Islam, Exploring Islam examines the life of UMAR IBN AL-KHATTAB (R.A.), one of the closest companions of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) and the 2nd Caliph of Islam.
Umar (R.A.) stood tall amongst men; a strong and powerfully built man who used to be a champion wrestler in his youth. He was given the title of Al-Farooq by the Prophet (S.A.W.), meaning one who distinguishes between truth and falsehood, right and wrong. Under him the Muslim empire grew at a phenomenal rate; covering vast expanses of the Middle East and North Africa.
The most just and fair amongst rulers who used to say:
"If a dog dies hungry on the banks of the River Euphrates, Umar will be responsible for failure of duty."
One can only wonder if a ruler such as him can be found in the world today?
@CommiexCore Jazzak'Allah khair for your kind words & prayers brother. May Allah bless you! And may He always keep us firm on the deen.
