Teaching Two Year Old With Down Syndrome Good Table Manners by Practicing

We Have Many Table Issues At Dinner. This is just one example of how we dealt with this one specific problem we were having. Before I turned the camera on this had been going on at least 5 or 6 times. Our excitement is understood when he understood what we meant for him to do and he did it. What a great day! He is so smart!

Sometimes he would want me to read him a book he would only listen to a few pages and then try everything he could (whining, throwing a fit, screaming, kicking) to get me to let him do something else. He needed me to step in and help him learn. After that, when he brought me a book to read I made sure we finished the whole book then rewarded with a, "you did it...give me five!" It only took a few days of this and now he enjoys books so much.

Hi, I just wanted to encourage you. Great job with the teaching! My down syndrome brother is now 20 years old and looking at your video brings back tons of memories. Even though we face other problems with him now, we learn so much from him as well. =) Keep it up!
