Oh man. This is a surprise... I only played Lufia II once, and the ending was really emotional... that was at least 5 years ago, and I only heard this song that one time, but I guess it really stuck with me, because as soon as this started playing, I recognized the tune immediately and could hear it in my head as it was playing. Good times...

great song didn't realize SNES had such great fretless bass sound. Pretty shitty screencap in my opinion no offense still all respect is paid for the share.

Well done! There really should be more appreciation for Chiptunes, it's amazing what one to three people with a keyboard could do with so few sound channels. Your list covers basically all of my favorites, but you missed a solid game, and that astonished me. Where's the Super Mario RPG The Legend of the Seven Stars?? Did it not sound Chiptune-y enough? Other than that, awesome list! Keep it up! ^_^

Easily the best game ever made in my opinion, beating out even Chrono Trigger.

I got EXTREMELY close to crying (I was trying to hold back) both times I heard this.

Lufia II is a display of what humanity is all about, what makes life worth living for. The characters aren't superheroes, they're normal human beings (well, Artea's an elf, but...). It's just SO EPIC...

An overall fantastic game and I totally agree with your thoughts on developers not wanting to make sad endings in video games. I played this when I was in my early teens, and again when I was 17 or so, and really had to stop myself from crying.

Listening to it now at age 21, I can still remember its great story and ending, easily #1 in the tear jerker department.

They both belong in top spots...It would be tough for me to decide which one ranks higher.
