What bugged me in this show was that the producers constantly made it sound like the 1st Special Service Force was actually the first special service regiment (ever). It's a small matter of semantics I know, but it belittles the efforts of other WW2 special forces groups such as the SAS or LRDP or even the Stoßtruppen in WW1. Just bugs me that a persistent semantic slip made it onto the TV.

@WORLD...: Isn't the green beret just an award for valour, bravery and dutiful service? Secondly, the Seals are an equivalent, in type, force to the CSOR (Canada) and, thus, not the main, but just a support special operations unit. That in mind, I'd argue that for the American's Delta force, the main unit, is the top special force in the that nation. Finally, I feel not listing the French and Israeli special forces among the three (I do strongly agree with your list) you did is a mistake.
