Shadow, a Silver Labrador, is an Accelerant Detection Canine with the NYS Office of Fire Prevention and Control's (OFPC} Arson Bureau. His handler, Jimmy, gets him worked up and ready for a search of an intentionally placed sample.

The search is a game to him, and his reward is a towel, which he goes nuts for!

Jimmy can be heard saying, in a high pitched voice "Go find the cause". That is the trigger for the dog to perform his search, which in his mind, is a game. His indication of a positive hit for an accelerant is to sit, and that last place his nose was before he sat, is where the investigator will mark, and take a sample.

This was a demonstration during a class I was taking at the NYS Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls, NY.
