There are several ways of uploading files to the server using the A8Dropzone applet.

The first and most intuitive way is: simply drag and drop one or several files onto the dropzone - and they are uploaded.

It is also possible to drag and drop entire directories onto the dropzone: All files in that directory (and all subdirectories) will be uploaded!

Another possibility is this: mark one or more files in your file explorer, select copy - either from the menu or by pressing CTRL-C on the keyboard, and then simply left-click the dropzone once.

By holding down the CTRL key on the keyboard while dropping an IMAGE file, the built in image center will pop up where you can optionally chose to only upload a portion of the image and also assign a meaningful name. Using the wheel on your mouse you can zoom in and out. With this slider you can resize the image before uploading.

If you have an image in your system clipboard - for example you took a screenshot and copied the image to the clipboard - a single left-click on the dropzone will also open the image center. This is a very quick and easy way for uploading screenshots for example to document managers, wikis, support systems and so on...

If you prefer to select the files manually and directly from within the dropzone, you can use the little folder icon on the right which opens a file choser dialog.

The dropzone applet also includes a powerful media converter which accepts many different audio and video files.

Let me show you an example: I drag&drop a VOB file from one of my homevideo DVDs while holding down the CTRL key and the media converter opens up.
Here i can now select if i want to keep the audio and/or video, which input stream I would like to use in case I dropped a video file with multiple streams (like different languages), chose the audio and video codecs, bit- and framerates.
I can also crop the video which is very useful to cut away those black bars you usually get with wide screen videos. I can set the output size using this handy slider and chose to cut away some content at the beginning and end of the video. This field here is for adjusting the audio-video-synchronization in milliseconds. So if the audio doesn't quite synchronize with the video after transcoding, you can move the audio forward by entering a positive number or backwards by entering a negative number.
When I use the dropzone to transcode media files I usually create a little preview by simply entering start at 60 seconds and encode for 30 seconds. Then I hit the GO button and check out the result in the A8Dropzone folder on my C drive. Now I play around with the crop and size options, make sure the audio synchronizes with the video and keep creating preview files. When everything is set up to my liking I start the conversion of the entire file by removing the Start and Length options and hitting GO again.

And here is another example: I recently recorded this video using my full HD camera. The camera creates M2TS files which are encoded using the AVCHD format. I want to have a high quality H264 video with 4Mbit bit-rate, make a simple stereo audio stream out of the original dolby digital 5.1, scale the video down to about this size keeping the 16:9 ratio and then starting the conversion.

If you only want to extract the audio of a video you can simply uncheck the video box and now select from the configured options. All these options here are set by the website the dropzone applet had been integrated into.

So you can see: The dropzone not only improves any upload experience, it can also be used to convert media files locally. Of course after conversion has finished you can always chose to upload the result by simply clicking the upload button at the bottom of the media converter window.

Thank you for watching this short introduction. If you have any further questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact us!

Have a great day!
