  • The record is off-center--and the effect is audible.

  • Sure is, dammit..

  • When did they start putting the little lead-in grooves to the main cut at the beginning?!

I have the same record! Are you filtering between what we see and the sound we hear? Any sound clean-up going on ?

  • The lead in groove must have begun late 1920s early 1930s (my guesstimate).

I plug a single jack from the turntable into the MIC input on the back of the computer to record, creating a WAV file. I convert to 128kps mp3 and use that to replace the video soundtrack. I understand that YT bumps the soundtrack down to 64kps. No filters, what you hear is what's on the record.

  • Is this the same version Woody Allen used in "Sweet and Lowdown"?

  • It is is such a simple little thing, and does so much for a record!

  • @gregoryagogo

At the time this record was made, Decca records did not have the lead-in groove. This recording is from 1934, but the pressing is post-war.

  • Thanks! I have a lot of records from the late 20s, and that groove is not there... you have to push it in to the recording manually. So this record is 1934, and there the groove! Somewhere in the early '30s, then...

  • Great, always loved the Henry Busse orchestra!
