Mission Briefing by UncleP:
Campaign 1, Mission 1: Gravy Train.
Employer: Taurian Defense Force, Taurian Concordat.
Location: Planet Portland, New Colony Region.
Mission: Planetary garrison, patrol and response duty.
Salary: 2,000,000 CBills upon succesful completion.
Duration: 12 months, starting 1st of January, 3061.
Bonuses: Kill fee 50,000 CBills, group salvage rights. Reasonable repair, refit and living expenses covered by the TDF.
Background: In the aftermath of the 3060 kidnapping and 3061 slaying of Protector Jeffrey Calderon by rogue Colonial Marshals demanding for the independence of the New Colony Region, the TDF and the Magistracy Armed Forces have begun to rotate more sensitive responsibilities out of the hands of the Marshal organization and into the responsibility of provisional military units. As both militaries are currently under duress from readily existing national defense concerns and the continuing St. Ives campaign, a substantial need for mercenaries to supplement planetary defense efforts has surfaced. Planet Portland, being a remote agriworld of little note, has especially felt the recent reduction of mech-borne defenders. Main garrison duty lies on the mostly footbound planetary militia, while a mixed bag of mercenaries fill in the needs of mechanized fast response and BattleMech patrol duty.
Today is the 3rd of December, 3061. Your year-length patrol tour is nearing it's end, and it couldn't come sooner. While the pay is decent and the perks are good, the Taurian's fears have completely failed to materialize during the past year. No combat, no kill fees, just endless repetition of patrol intersected by short stints of R&R - mostly Canopian hookers and blow - to keep a man sane. It seemed like the entire campaign would come to an end without a single shot fired, until this morning. First, the planetary satellite network blanked, one source after another. Then, reports of strafing runs on the few piddly military airfields the planet happens to house. And finally, as you were finishing your patrol, a mayday call. The garrison forces of Fort Lauderdale, one of the hundred-score podunk agricultural towns scattered across the planet, are reporting a company-scale attack force in the town. The last harried radio call rambles something about trucks and the aggressor force departing, but succesfully confirms the presence of an unidentified, hostile reconnaissance lance of mechs on-site.
You can see the plumes of smoke on the horizon, and the man on the radio has finally stopped screaming. Fort Lauderdale is ten minutes away at most. The SatInt imagery you have on-board is dated, but sufficient. A recon lance? What a fucking joke. Time to earn a Christmas bonus.
What client of the game are you using, Polar? I have this and I don't see the isometric view option...

@Kenny833 I believe we are all using the development version, version 0.35.27. Hope that helps, Kenny.

So it's not just me awash with battletech mania. It's weird - the moment I start playing MW4mercs and got MWLivingLegends working, I get more battletech in my sub-box. Totally awesome.

hay dose this also simulate tank combat in the MW universe?
hartzaden 4 weeks ago
@hartzaden yes, I think it does. I think it'll even simulate naval combat, I see warships in the list of vehicles.
