  • Rach Gia is great for flying kites. We live on the "island" part of Rach Gia, across from the ferry terminal. They fly kites near the terminal, on the island, and in what I call Kite Park. If you look on Google Earth at Rach Gia, there is new land just south of the island that was built out into the gulf a few years ago. Along that coast, you can see a small round piece of land that juts out into the gulf. That whole area is Kite Park. All along that new coast, what I call New Rach Gia...

  • @gfranz Thanks a lot, I'm planning a 5 or so mekong delta city tour that will span roughly 7 days in June. It'll be a small spin off of this series before I start working in Vietnam. Rach Gia would be an ideal place to end the prospective journey as I can fly back to SGN if necessary. Thanks again.

  • Not right now. My partner is there getting the condo fixed up and keeping me abreast of everything going on there. I can't wait to get back to Rach Gia, probably later this year. If you ever visit Rach Gia and need a place to crash for a couple of days, you are more than welcome to use our condo on the Gulf. The bedrooms are air conditioned!

  • @gfranz I might take up your offer because I will be back in Vietnam early June and was actually planning to do the Mekong Delta region for 5 or 7 days and Rach Gia was on my short list.... which is how I discovered your Rach Gia video in the first place. ... I have a total affinity towards kites too. Flying kites in the Mekong Delta... now that would be a dream come true

  • Your videos are great. Your storytelling, editing and music makes these videos really entertaining. It took me a while to get used to this type of Vietnamese music, but now that my ear is tuned to it, I love it.

  • @gfranz thanks... are you still in vietnam?

  • these folk songs called Ho Doi Dap =))

  • Hue is beautiful with the imperial architectures, friendly people, attractive landscape, and is not so crowded and dangerous like Saigon. It is 1000km (~700 miles) from Saigon. My experience is that the Perfume river is clean, green, and poetic. Prices there are every reasonable, much better than Saigon, Nha Trang, and Hanoi. It costed me 8 US$/day for a hotel "double "room (the size of your typical bedroom), all by myself. Not so bad though there were mosquitoes. Hot water did not work.

  • ... there are tons of new restaurants, hotels, internet cafes and entertainment bars on the water. There's a lot to do in Rach Gia. I think you'll like it.

  • @okayq Believe it or not, I love this kind of music and was so disappointed that the ride only lasted for around an hour.
