“Haha. A little bit... what gave it away?”
“Umm... I think it was the way your face turned red when I said hello.”
Katie smiled, and once again, felt her face get hot.
“Yeah, like that.” Kevin laughed and Katie gripped the stand tighter.
“Haha. Be quiet.”
“Hey! I’m not making fun of you! You look even cuter when you’re embarrassed.” Kevin’s face turned red this time. “Ohhh.. Did I just say that....”
“Out loud? Yeah you did. But that’s okay, now we’re even. We both said stupid stuff.” Katie laughed.
“Works for me!” Kevin laughed too, until he was cut off by his brother. Joe came over and shoved a CD in Kevin’s face. While Kevin was looking it over, or at least pretending to, Joe turned his attention to Katie.
“Hi! I’m Joe. What’s your name?”
“Haha. Yes, I know you’re Joe. Nice to meet you, I’m Katie.”
Joe smiled. “Nice to meet you Katie.” He took the album back from Kevin and searched the store for Nick. “Yo Nick! Look at this!” Joe left Kevin’s side and made his way over to his younger brother.
“Haha. You probably never want to talk to me again after meeting Joe.”
“Nope. Good-bye Kevin Jonas.” Katie turned to make it look like she was walking away, but turned around before taking another step. Kevin stood there, making a little pouty face. “You actually want to see me again?”
“Should I not want to?”
“No I just.... you know...you’re Kevin Jonas.”
“And you’re Katie....”
“Martin, Katie Martin.”
“Well Miss. Martin, can I have your number, or will I have to track you down and get it some other time.”
“Some other time.”
“What... wh-“
”Because, then there will be another time.” Katie smiled.
“What if I promise you that if I get your number now, there will still be another time?” Kevin pleaded.
“How do I know you keep your promises?”
Kevin walked over to get closer to Katie, “Because, I’ve never broken a promise before.”
“People change and promises are broken.”
“Quoting our songs are we?”
“Yes, and because I want to see you again, I’ll give you my number now. But I want yours too.”
Kevin smiled. “Deal.”
Katie took out her phone and gave it to Kevin in exchange for his. They put their numbers in and gave the phones back to the rightful owner.
“Call me later okay?” Katie asked, before being dragged out of the store by her friends.
“I will. I promise.” Kevin smiled and watched as she disappeared into the mob of screaming girls outside.
