Ulthera™ recently been approved by the FDA for use in the US. Ulthera™the first device that uses ultrasound technology to stimulate the body's own collagen response for lifting and tightening the skin and underlying soft-tissue of the face.

It creates heat by the ultrasound waves that reaches different levels of the skin and soft tissues that no other device can reach and those can deliver better results. Typically the SMAS a fibrous layer over the muscles of the face that is addressed while performing a facelift is targeted for heating. Then a second more superficial layer of the deep dermis is heated. The heat causes contraction of the tissues and those an immediate elevation and response. Then over the next three months collagen production layers a scaffold that helps tighten and lift the skin and soft tissues even further. This system also uses acoustic imaging to enable the physician to see the layers of soft tissue beneath the skin prior to treatment to ensure a uniform and accurate application of the ultrasound waves. This differs significantly from any other device that is currently on the market which typically use radio frequency or lasers to stimulate the skin. While Ulthera is not going to yield the dramatic results of a surgical face-lift, many patients that do not want a surgical procedure or are not ready for surgery will see subtle, yet significant tightening and lifting of the skin that Ulthera™ provides.

With proper screening and the appropriate patients and technique a 90% positive results and satisfaction is expected from Ulthera™ treatments.
