The Black Rocket Scientists

This is my first attempt at making a short film. It was written in February 2009 and shot in March 2009 with the help of my younger brothers and sisters being a part of the cast and crew. I wrote the story based on my younger siblings and some common problems facing young black male adolescents. The film addresses the color problem in Black communities, homophobia, and bullying. The film is about a boy name Damon who wants to hang out with his older brother Jerry. Instead of looking out for his younger brother and giving him someone to look up to, Jerry teases Damon and questions his sexuality. He also while also subjects himself and his brother to be bullied by his want to be friends. When Damon has had enough, he takes his own life to end his misery. After his death, his older brother and friends ignorance is revealed.
