A warm front passing overhead of Rovaniemi on 18 August 2008. Time-lapse footage from a period of 30 minutes. Notice the visible cloud lines perpendicular to the moving direction of the front.

  • Well a warm front is when a warm air mass is moving into a cold one and since warm air is less dense it overrides the cold. The opposite goes for a cold front where a cold air mass moves into a warm air mass and the cold air mass goes under the warm because its more dense.

  • how do you know if something's a warm front? i'm studying meteorology and i'm having a hard time distinguishing a cold from a warm front. in both cases, warm air meets cold air, right? and its always cold air going under the warm air..
