@RoyFive seriously! same here...thought it was carl all along. you get 3 brothers that can sound the same, then a guy who can imitate them all together in one band...makes for crazy singing fun.

Al's really quite a guy. I read some very favorable stuff about David Marks (Al's replacement in the early years), but I doubt that the Beach Boys would have progressed the way they had without Al. He was the only folkie in the group and you wouldn't have had Sloop John B or Cotton Fields without him. I also like his two contributions on the Surf's Up LP, co-written with Gary Winfrey.
