UPDATE: TURN ON ANNOTATIONS FOR LYRICS.
(the lyrics at the top represent Red Knife Lottery, the lyrics by La Dispute are at the bottom)

This is sort of a mashup between:
La Dispute - Such Small Hands
Red Knife Lottery - Holy Skirts

I was just fooling around and didn't invest a lot of time into this. I didn't really try to find common beats in order to make it sound better together or anything - consequently, I won't care about any negative comments or dislikes, instead they'll make me happy because of the video getting attention.

The opening tracks of La Dispute's "Somewhere At The Bottom Of The River Between Vega And Altair" and Red Knife Lottery's "Soiled Soul And Rapture" reminded me of each other, to a certain degree it's the mood, but mostly due to the lyrics, they almost seem to communicate with each other.
I like the idea of both lyrics complementing each other, especially when considering lines like "every broken promise that your body couldn't keep" (La Dispute) that illustrate a common sexist attitude towards the bodies of women from my point of view (even though they may also be directed to men, in this song they could also serve the sole purpose of telling a story or maybe reflect on this very attitude). by providing a counterpart to these words, they don't stay unopposed and therefore their meaning may change or include another level of meaning.

I'll post the lyrics again, though you can turn annotations on (that's the balloon at the bottom of the video) and have the lyrics displayed as subtitles (the lyrics by Red Knife Lottery are not complete in the video):

Red Knife Lottery - Holy Skirts

This bawdy mouth may delude, but darlin' please don't be rude.
This skirts not an invitation get ahold of your excitation.
Sure you can buy me this one drink.
But darlin' don't you, don't you think.
This is all a little trite cause I'm not going home with you tonight.
I'm not your tart.
I'm not your harlot.
I'm not your Jezebel.
You can taste my shame.
Do you even know my name?

La Dispute - Such Small Hands

I think I saw you in my sleep, darling,
I think I saw you in my dreams you were
Stitching up the seams on every broken promise
That your body couldn't keep.
I think I saw you in my sleep.

I thought I heard the door open, oh no,
I thought I heard the door open but
I only heard it close.

I thought I heard a plane crashing, but
Now I think it was your passion snapping.

I think you saw me confronting my fear, it
Went up with a bottle and went down with the beer and
I think you ought to stay away from here
There are ghosts in the walls and they
Crawl in your head through your ear.

I think I saw you in my sleep, lover,
I think I saw you in my dreams you were
Stitching up the seams on every mangled promise
That your body couldn't keep.
I think I saw you in my sleep

oh and the image was just a quick thing too, just so there's no blank space.

disclaimer: none of the music belongs to me. all of it is the property of the bands and their labels (La Dispute - No Sleep Records; Red Knife Lottery - Uprising Records)
