@r134568 Should have replied to you a while back. I did some more research after reading your response and saw what you were talking about. I've since bought the Sport and I love it. I've only put a few hundred rounds through it so far. But, man, it is a lot of fun.

I'm new to the AR world. What does the forward assist do?

@rockstarr469 Hey, thanks for watching. The forward assist helps to push the bolt into battery if a cartridge fails to seat in the chamber. It was not included in the original AR-15 design, but the US army requested it be included with the M16A1. It's not 100% necessary because you can still push the bolt carrier forward with your finger (best to wear gloves) if you think the round isn't fully seated.

I did the same thing. Traded my kel tec su-16a for the s&w m&p 15.

@TiT0BhoY Nice, I hope that you got a good deal for your trade. I'm not particularly against the su-16a...but I could tell that it was cheaply made. I've always wanted an AR-15, and when I saw how nice the m&p 15's were for $650 I had to get one.
