Traded in the su-16a for this M&P 15 Sport. 16 inch barrel, 5.56/.223 chambering. It's a huge step up from the su-16a in terms of quality and sophistication. The su-16a wasn't a bad rifle..I just got sick of looking at it. I was also looking at a bushmaster carbon 15...but I got this instead..and I'm glad that I did.

  • where did you get those pre ban mags

  • @bigal98761 They aren't pre-ban mags. You can pick them up at the corner store in my state.

  • I'm new to the AR world. What does the forward assist do?

  • @rockstarr469 Hey, thanks for watching. The forward assist helps to push the bolt into battery if a cartridge fails to seat in the chamber. It was not included in the original AR-15 design, but the US army requested it be included with the M16A1. It's not 100% necessary because you can still push the bolt carrier forward with your finger (best to wear gloves) if you think the round isn't fully seated.

  • I did the same thing. Traded my kel tec su-16a for the s&w m&p 15.

  • @TiT0BhoY Nice, I hope that you got a good deal for your trade. I'm not particularly against the su-16a...but I could tell that it was cheaply made. I've always wanted an AR-15, and when I saw how nice the m&p 15's were for $650 I had to get one.

  • @Titan9mm Yeah it's a great deal.

  • @r134568 Should have replied to you a while back. I did some more research after reading your response and saw what you were talking about. I've since bought the Sport and I love it. I've only put a few hundred rounds through it so far. But, man, it is a lot of fun.

  • @ThePandemic101 need*

  • @bradpalmer1 You don't a forward assist or dust cover.

  • Never mind I seen it was answer in the comments already

  • Can you take the front sight off?
