  • is that why you put it in your program because it was in forrest gump? why even mention it, you weren't the ones singing it then, so therefore it is not the song from FG is it? and you should be aware when you post things on youtube you are going to receive negative comments, I prefer to be nice about dressing people down, others are more harsh. as said, if you sound bad please don't share with others. you guys aren't all that bad though.

Okay people...the whole "Forrest Gump" thing is simple. Watch the movie. During a section of the movie THIS song comes on. Kevin watches the movie. Kevin hears the song and remembers what a great song it was. Kevin adds it to the setlist. Kevin casually mentions "off the Forrest Gump soundtrack" more as a silly thing to say than anything else.

  • @denniswilsonfan

And yes, we totally knew we would get negative feedback. Not a surprise at all. What is a bit frustrating about it are the "drive by shooters" who possibly aren't musicians themselves, but feel free to be excessively negative for no good reason. But again, I suppose that goes with the territory. Everyone's a critic.

  • And the drum part is wrong, too!, not to mention the bass. Listen to the original recording!! This is a disgrace!

  • @BCRSIX

As I mentioned elsewhere, I could indeed arrange it EXACTLY like the original. I have the hardware and the know how and the arranging skills to do it. But what we've found is that firstly, most folks at the venues we play at could really care less about the exactness of the arrangement. If it's close enough to recognize, then they're happy and they're singing along. Secondly, we usually try to "personalize" it a little bit so that we can flex our creativity. Hope that's okay! Kevin

  • you suck, epic fail. By the way, take singing lessons. You are very pitchy. NOOOB

  • @jetyu75

You can be a little nicer than that I'm thinking! I have been singing since I was 15 and while I absolutely am aware that I am not "lead vocalist" quality (and never will be), at least I'm out there giving it a go. I'd love to hear some of your stuff...do you have it uploaded somewhere? And yes, this performance was pitchy I'll admit, but we've performed it other times and it's been quite a bit better. Sorry that this wasn't good enough for ya. We'll just try harder. Kevin

  • I always like to hear different versions of songs and these dudes did a great job- nothing like a live band

  • FYI This song is not "Copyright 1960 by the Youngbloods". The Youngbloods did a cover version of it. It was written in 1964 by Chet Powers (aka Dino Valenti), who later was in Quicksilver Messenger Service. He sold the rights to Frank Werber, manager of the Kingston Trio, (who also did a cover, as did dozens of 60's and 70's artists)

  • @denniswilsonfan thank you denniswilsonfan ...well said

  • I remember clearly, when Jenny was getting on the bus and hugging forrest, this was playing, and forrest yelled out loudly something about ALABAMA!!!!!!. Good for you guys to do this, I enjoyed watching and hearing you do this, thumbs up.

  • Good cover! Question: Like, why does the photographer take a pic of the lead's butt at 1:03 ?

  • This is a great version of a very beautiful song. Forget Nirvana ! We need to be living this stuff NOW !

  • I don't know why everyone is fighting over this song. They rendered a nice version of the song.

  • I think more people need to listen to the lyrics of this song.

  • I liked the performance.

  • I love both Forrest Gump and this song, so whoever hate the movie, well, fuck you!
