In Wonder (Digitech Vocalist Live Pro & JamMan Solo, Ovation Balladeer)

Ever been told you're 'too young' to know anything, or 'too old' to be in sync with current times? I composed the lyrics to this song to delve into the concepts of youth vs. aging and how age sometimes does, and other times doesn't bear relevance to the way a person may perceive themselves and others. We can ask ourselves if we still hold awe and wonder as precious parts of our outlook on life. We can look around and see examples of those who are living each day with childlike surprise and contrasting examples of those who are living the same day over and over again...

The many musical movements in this song are arranged to correlate with the lyrical assertions like 'I have my need to be free' and 'I'm still me' -- When the song reaches the looper-based bridge, it becomes a floating, spiraling, hypnotic passage that I intend to represent the wonder, awe and anticipation that I hold for life as a 'Child in Wonder'

This rendition of "In Wonder" was performed on the last day of music at Espresso Yourself Music Café, which is a place that also exemplifies the spirit of following ones true instincts, and the practice of breaking away from watching the 'garden sprinkler spray' by becoming a part of something alive and vibrant.




I am using my Ovation Balladeer routed thru the Vocalist Live Pro, then into the Boss GT3 , thru the Yamaha MG82cx mixer, with the the DigiTech JamMan Solo looper routed thru the MG82cx effects send... then into the house PA. I am singing thru an Audio-Technica ATM-73a into the Digitech Vocalist Live Pro, which is also routed thru the MG82cx. The audio feed in this video is from Mix Master, Ben Ahlteen, using the house board at EMYC - audio was captured using the line input of the Kodak Zi8 camcorder (the same camcorder I used to record my live album). Please pardon the low resolution and un-matched cameras, these are from tapes intended for archive only.
