Eva Evdokimova (Staatsballet Berlin), Ghislaine Thesmar (Paris Opera Ballet), Carla Fracci (La Scala Ballet) and Alicia Alonso (Ballet National de Cuba)in Anton Dolin's reconstruction of Grand Pas de Quatre, 1980.
Bravo Sra. Alonso....Ud. es la danza misma!!!!!!
The very end particularly is perfection. Oddly, as happens in the opening section, here too, the allegro footwork (échappés & passés back-to-back, moving around to the right) gets a bit jumbled/messed. Looks like maybe Mlle. Fracci does an extra échappé rather than a passé at one point. Picky, I know. Doesn't change the fact that it's lovely & instructive to have this. THANK YOU!
Phew. Does it get any better than this! All four ladies with their own unsurpassed style. It is a true meeting of the greats of ballet. All four are national and international heroines, and no wonder. Yet these etoiles come together for this performance clearly acknowledging the greatness of their three "sisters".
I love how you can see Evdokimova springing up just a little higher than everyone else, and landing a little softer, yet she is still perfectly on the music.
just a small correction: Eva Evdokimova was never at Staatsballett Berlin, because that company did not exist at this time. She was dancing at Deutsche Oper Berlin Ballet (a company that does not exist anymore, it became Staatsballett Berlin together with Staatsoper Berlin Ballett).
