Sydney's Best Driving Roads - Old Pacific Highway

The Pacific Highway is a major transport route along part of the east coast of Australia and is part of Australia's national route 1. It is 960 km long and links Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, to Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, along the coast, via Gosford, Newcastle, Taree, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Ballina and the Gold Coast.

The video features the winding run up from Berowra (~38 Kms north of Sydney) to the Central Coast. However, it does not show the section around Mooney Mooney Creek (due to errr.....technical difficulties), which is probably the best stretch of the old pacific between Sydney and Central Coast.

Some general info:

- Coming from Sydney, get on the F3 and take the Berowra exit to bypass most of the urban part of the Pacific Hwy. Since it runs pretty much parallel to the Old Pacific, you can always get back on the F3 for a quicker route back to Sydney.

- It is one of the most notorious stretches of road in Australia, with a reputation for car and bike hoons crashing into anything and everything. Meaning speed limits are ridiculously conservative and it is religiously patrolled by cop cars.

- Watch out for bikes especially, some of these guys go through here doing 150 km/h+ easy. So keep an eye on the rear view mirror for them quickly coming up from behind.

- The road is pretty empty on weekdays, especially past brooklyn (which is about where it gets good anyway). It's busier on weekends as the enthusiasts come out for their weekend cruise. Night runs are at your own risk, plenty of suicidal wildlife around here!
