@bbigjohnson I went to one Rams game per year from 1986 to 1994, thier last in LA, and this was the game that I went to in 1990. Great game, the only OT game I've watched in person. I thought the LA Rams would take the next step, following thier NFC Championship game loss the year before in 1989, but it wasn't meant to be. This was one of the last positive LA Rams highlights before they left town for good after 94.
I was at this game...my uncle is Ickey Woods. Got tickets and thought they would just blow LA away...but the Rams came back...great great game. Unfortunately, I had to listen to the Raiders (my actual team) blow their game against the Bills on Sunday Night driving back to Fresno with my grandparents. Great stuff though!
QB Boomer Esiason was two-time defending AFC QB rating champion & was excelling at running semi-huddle & hurry-up offenses. Boomer read defenses exceptionally well & feasted on zone defenses. His play-action fake paralyzed LBs who subsequently suffered the wrath of a Boomer fastball or an off-speed pitch that found its receiver. His release was 2nd only to MarinoWorld & his competitiveness was 2nd to none. He was a leader, was big & strong enough to take a beating & run for crucial yards.
Yeah, I was there for this one too. Had season tix '86-'94. Rams were coming of a bye week but they were clueless against the "attack offense". Both clubs combined for 1,059 yards total offense in this game. Esiason and Everett were on fire. I recall the 55 yard TD from Everett to "Flipper" Anderson (#83) @:51 secs. He lined up in the slot. I noticed NOBODY COVERING HIM! I'm telling my buddy ,"Nobody is covering "Flipper"! Nobody is covering "Flipper"!" Everett saw it and just laid it up for him
