My 380 in the dyno. 56HP at the rearwheel.
The result is on a picture on the end of the video.

Modifications on my 380:

-FMF Gnarly front exhaust
-FMF Powercore2 silencer
-Boyesen reedvalves(glasfibre)
-Slightly increase of the compression
-Removed casting "bumps" in the cylinder ports

The dyno result pictures show the result with original exhaust and FMF. The red curve is the FMF.

  • i have never had problems with jetting. Only when i use it when hell freezes over. i have my main jetting and a below zero° jetting.

  • What is the first pipe on the bike? That is not a stock 380 silencer. Looks like a newer KTM silencer. The 380s had long silencers with a bend.

Were both dyno runs done with the Gnarly pipe? I don't think I have ever seen a 380 without one. Both mine have it.

Thanks for the dyno video, I had only ever heard of HP rumors for the bike.

  • @TheOfficialKC the first pipe is a stock exhaust. The 380`s with a bend is a mxc or exc(enduro). This bike is a SX(motocross)

in this clip i show you the difference between stock sx exhaust and a gnarly+ powercore2 silencer.

  • @bilbombe

u know the original main jet and what you are running on yours now? got similar... nice bike!

  • @bilbombe Interesting. My 380SX came with the bent pipe.

  • @smcr500 The 380s have more torque. The 300s have the benefit of newer design so they run cleaner. Since they run cleaner and don't have the midrange hit of the 380 they can feel like they have more torque. I have only heard great things about ported 300s though.

  • @bilbombe i know. but he wrote the 380`s torque felt as good as the 300...

so i just wanted his opinion ;-)

  • @smcr500 the 300 does not have more torque than 380.

  • @TheOfficialKC i have not read so much about the 380. he has a jet chart that follow the bike when you buy it... but he has always smaller jets than recomended in the chart.

the bike is road legal and is used on the road most of the time.

my brothers 380exc is much stronger all over than my 2002 300exc

has more torqe. does the 2010 300xc-w have more torqe than the 380???

  • @smcr500 The 380s are notorious for hard jetting. I had trouble with mine, I talked to specialists in the industry that said the same thing, and I have read through the 380 thread on KTMtalk. Your brother must have gotten lucky, or previous owner fixed it.

Most people get head mods and/or JD Jetting kit to fix it.

I got my EXC running good and the torque felt as good as my friends 2010 300XC-W.

  • @TheOfficialKC my brother has a ktm380 and the jetting is no problem at all ;-)

we have tested the 380 and 300 and compared them in diffrent things.

the 380 will not work as good as the 300 in an enduro. i also have 2 cr500 one supermoto and one cross. it feels like the cr500 has more torqe and hp than the 380 but the 380 wins in a drag race. not my supermoto cr500 ;-) have tuned it...

  • @kakkukaala changing sprockets won't change your HP number, only measured torque at the wheel. Gearing down will raise your torque but drop wheel rpm.

  • @smcr500 With the 380 you can tune the powervalve for a milder hit, it is just a screw on the side. Should be the same on 250/300s of the same years.

With head mod, pv tuned right and correct jetting they are torquey bikes. Not just top end monsters. I could only imagine what porting would do. The biggest problem with 380s is jetting.

  • @kakkukaala i know.... but my point was that the sprockets will change your dyno results... Vhm cylinder top or what you call it, Keihin pwm 39,5mm, modified pipe, v-force 3

  • @bilbombe i would beat you in a hard enduro race ;-)

you have too much power in the 380.

have tried the 380 way out in the forest. and there`s too much power it will just spin out.

would take the 300 over the 380 if i should use it in an enduro.

but 380 on the road and cross ;-)

  • @kakkukaala first off...56 from rear wheel...and the smallest sprocket to the ktm is 38...get a grip. Soup up your uncles 250 load it with nitro or something and come ride with us in norway..:)

  • @smcr500 the 380 can endure anything:)

  • @bilbombe 55hp from rwheel... but if you put 15/25 i will promise that your hp is way lower than 56...

  • @bilbombe he he ;-) would not torture my bike just because it can take it ;-)

i have bought a ktm300exc. the BEST enduro bike!

  • @smcr500 thats nothing. maybe a cr500 cant withstand that engine braking..but with a KTM...theres no problem;)

  • you try the best you can to kill the piston with that much engine braking!!!!!

  • @kakkukaala Hi, it does not matter what sprockets you have.

my 56hp is NOT from the crank...thats a huge difference anyway. This bike beats even a cr500 from 0-topspeed.

And my gearing is 15(the biggest front) and 45rear ithink...topspeed 145km/t (GPS measured) i can change to a 38tooth rear sprocket but will loose acceleration.

  • @kakkukaala 57 from rw

  • @bilbombe Keihin PWM modified to 39,5mm and it's fast as hell, but 250 loses to 380 at torgue so badly... but the dyno was like this. and i think if you have too long gearing it will lower the hp and like that. but 62hp were from crank..

  • @kakkukaala What carb does your uncle have..? And what was the torque? Is it fast?

Something i guess you dont understand about dynos...some are very very very gentle and gives you high numbers. This dyno is not of the kind sort. I dont want fantasy brake horsepower. Sprockets doesnt matter what you have.
