Short Video showing off my newly completed Ebike conversion.
running a cyclone style midmount motor (500W 24V) i am running on a NI-Mh battery pack @ 24V 18AH. i am also running a Cycle Analyst for instant readouts of the electrical system. top speed so far has been 60 km/h. Range on the current battery should be about 28km to 80% DOD (with moderate peddling).

i will have a video of the bike being ridden up shortly.

I have only been on one 13km test ride so far. 13km took 137 watt hrs (or 6.1AH) this battery is 432 watt hrs (or 18AH).

i have changed the MTB type tyres to serfas drifter semi slicks for improved on road performance and lower rolling resistance. added a Delta Air Zound air horn (rated at 115Db) also added a cheap etrex GPS.

The only things left for me to do are to change the rear gear set for a Nuvinci hub, and run a LiFeP04 battery pack.

The LiFeP04 battery upgrade should happen very soon, then the true potential of this motor should be known.

please watch parts 2 , 3 , and 4.

thanks

  • that's a real great bike, but for those people who cant spend there life savings on an e-bike ,about $200.00 to buy gas motor kit is the way to go ,see mine at my channel MrMsrtube you can get up to 150 mpg and go up to 40 mphcheck it out

  • @MrMsrtube

there's no arguing that the gas / petrol powered kits are cheaper.

however, they are a load noisier. the electric kits are almost silent.

the gas / petrol motor kits are also not legal in Australia, and in many others also.

the police here do pull people over and hand out fines for being unregistered , and unlicensed if the rider has no bike license.

those 2 fines work out to be about $1500 here in Australia.

by comparison, the electric bikes get almost zero attention

  • @exaturbo Really? A few days ago I read that Australia has some weird law requiring motors on bicycles to be limited to 250W, otherwise the vehicle is considered a motorbike. I admit the average cop should have a hard time checking motor power, but still I wouldn't feel comfortable...

  • @dl7und

true, the limit for power here is a ridiculously low 200W (and that's peak !)

    more like 130W continuous.

i was once told by a cop, that if you look like a push-bike, and are not riding like a dick,

that they mostly have better things to do than look at booking you.

i always follow all the road rules, and i wear my helmet plust the bike has lights for when i ride at night.

so im a long way down on their radar.

the only time i would be screwed, is if i caused an accident.

  • I hope that you have a good lock.........

  • @456manny1

don't really need a lock for the ebikes.

the only places i leave them un attended is at a secure parking area at work, and in my locked garage.

i answered this in the question just below yours.

motorcycle needs registration, insurance and ongoing running costs, and does not contribute to my fitness.

  • Why not just get a motorcycle?

  • @MrMsrtube (You pay for what you get) efficient electric or non efficient gas. My Batteries pay for themselves because they are so cheap, and gas vs electricity, there's a big difference in costs. I use to own a small gas scooter, I'd rather pay the extra few hundred (initially) for a much more appealing experience. Plus a lot of torque! Make it electric!
