  • Steve , is that the original motor for that lathe? They used to make things to last. If that is the original motor, it is nothing short of a miracle.

  • @Buzzsawman Believe it or not, that is indeed the original motor.

  • Come on Steve, can't you keep it clean? Pain in the a**? Power tools and beer drinking? I really like watching your videos, but this one really surprised me (in a bad way).

  • @edadan2009 Haha!

  • wow that lathe is ten years older than me (and I am fifty two but don't tell anyone) My dad died twenty two years ago but he was my main inspiration to become a woodworker...It wasn't till after he died that I decided to work with wood.. it is a pity that I never got to collaborate with him on a project. It is good to see someone do a project with his parent.... Your dad is great.

  • @Buzzsawman Thanks man. Yep, it was my dad who got me interested in woodworking when I was a kid. We live far apart an don't see each other very often. After all the beer and yacking, it was really amazing that we were able to complete this project!

  • Generally great work, man. You've convinced me a lathe, disc sander, belt sander, band saw, drill press and more, isn't enough. I've got to get a router and a table saw!

So you drink beer while operating power tools and you've obviously got severe ADD... who cares? But god damned! That was some crappy wood turning! I'd rater see someone do tequila shots while operating heavy machinery, near a kinder-garden!

  • Ha! I like your Dad's style.

  • For edadan2009....Don't be an ass. If you don't like a video don't watch it. Love the video, many thanks.

  • @stevinmarin Come to think of it, my Dad got me interested in woodworking too. If he was working on a wood project and turned either to the left or the right, he hit me in the forehead with his elbow. I never told my Dad this before he died, but I learned from him by watching him make every possible mistake. When he made cabinet doors, every one of them seemed to be a trapezoid. He'd get his style inside measurement confused with the outside measurement on the next one he'd cut.Nothing was square.

  • @stevinmarin I agree. You should refrain from drinking beer unless you're attempting to operate a chainsaw. I did notice your Dad was wearing his, "these, safety glasses." I wonder if they're safety glass and frames like Norms?.

  • @edadan2009 Aaah relax man, what's the problem!

It's Steve's video, he can do whatever he wants!!

  • Hi Steve.

I waited a long time than you show us some twoodurned object (because I turning too.)

I thought at first you will do it.

but you did not :( :

Anyway This was good to see you to work with your fater.

Good idea and good work like always.

Ah something else, I made your "band saw box" :)(in my profil, and in my webpage)

    greeting from fland.
