TurboHarp's president, Jim Antaki, takes lifetime dose of x-ray to make this video to see what goes on in your mouth when you playing the harmonica.

  • I have a 10-hole diatonic, and I wanna learn how to bend notes.

  • You ask a good question. If you stay tuned, I plan to upload more instructional videos that will help you learn to do bends. For the time being, my recommendation is to start on a low note, like the 1, 2, or 3 hole; practice drawing air in your mouth while saying "taw" and "bought" and once you hear the pitch droppping, go with it. Best of success.

  • Whoa!! Wait this is genious! Which parts were you bending the notes? I've been tryign to learn to bend notes for a good while now but I'm not sure I've got it. I've been trying to figure out the tongue movement. This would be perfect to show the basics of a good bend. (Just don't do it too often. X-Rays aren't good for you in prolonged exposure.)

  • Thanks! My research partner and I did this study precisely for this reason. But we eventually had to stop on account of the x-ray dose. Dangerous, but we did it for love of the harmonica.

  • That's awesome!

  • Thanks, Melonhead! I've got several more that I'm hoping to post.
